A Winter Haven native, Richard joined his father, Jack Straughn in the practice upon graduating from law school. He has a strong commitment to community, having served on the boards and in leadership roles of numerous local non-profits, including the President, Greater Winter Haven Area Chamber of Commerce, President , Winter Haven Hospital, President, Mid-Florida Medical Services Foundation and President, Polk Community College Foundation. He was honored to receive the Winter Haven Banker’s Cup “Man of the Year” award in recognition of his service to the community.

Richard’s practice has been varied and evolving over the years, giving him experience in a variety of areas, including business, real estate, personal injury, criminal law, family law, and general litigation. Currently, his practice is focused on business law, real estate, and commercial litigation.
